Opportunity to become the Club's next Secretary
Date Posted: 21 May 2018Cardiff Business Club is one of the most high profile and influential organisations of its kind in the country. It was founded over a century ago and, with HRH the Prince of Wales as its Patron, its principal activities centre around dinner events addressed by speakers of national or international standing within their particular sectors.
The role of the Secretary is to operate the Club on behalf of its Board of Directors, with particular responsibility for constructing an annual programme of exciting events which will be attractive to the Club’s increasingly diverse membership.
The Role
- Managing all day to day activity and reporting to the Board
- Identifying and approaching speakers and constructing an enticing season programme
- Identifying and pursuing sponsorship opportunities
- Co-ordinating with the event management and media team, assisting with the hosting of speakers and guests and briefing the Chair and other supporting speakers
- Act as company secretary and in close liaison with the Treasurer, manage the Administrator, arrange Board meetings and be responsible for corporate governance
- Be responsible for communication with and management and expansion of the membership
The Person
- Able to represent the Club both locally and nationally
- Displays gravitas, calmness and confidence in handling people at all levels
- Has operated at a senior level with a variety of stakeholders - likely to be well known to the business community
- Has an approachable style with strong relationship building skills
- Strong organisational skills and displays real attention to detail
- Personal attributes include sound judgement, tenacity, ingenuity, integrity and diplomacy
- Has an empathy for the Club and respect for its history
The role generally involves ten hours a week together with attendance at the Club’s events. There is a nominal remuneration of £7,500 per annum together with expenses.
