Born in Tenby as the 5th of 8 children, Peter worked variously as a delivery boy, barman and bingo caller before joining NatWest as the office junior in his home town in 1977. He spent 26 years with NatWest Group and during that time, worked in many roles in Retail, Corporate Banking, Strategy and Technology.
Peter was Chief Operating Officer at Morgan Chambers Plc, a niche Outsourcing Consultancy. Prior to joining Sainsbury’s he was Group Chief Executive of Principality, the largest Building Society in Wales. Peter was appointed CEO of Sainsbury’s Bank in November 2012 and joined the Sainsbury’s Group Operating Board in May 2014. He is former Chairman of the CBI Wales and the Building Societies Association, and is a Fellow of UWIC and The Chartered Institute of Management. Peter was awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours 2010, in recognition of his support for the Financial Services Industry. Peter is married with four children and lives in Edinburgh and has recently announced that he has left Sainsbury's Bank.
